Description

illustration done in photoshop 6.

i was having a really bad day and was feeling a bit down, so i sat in front of the computer and started to sketch crazy-happy faces to see if could cheer myself up a bit. but it just wasn't happening, so instead i started to draw these nostalgic looking figures.

and this is what i came up with.

i'm not completely happy with some aspects of this image, but overall i feel like it wasn't a complete waste of time!

as always, comments and criticism are appreciated.

nice character work with very stylish color finish.
they are hangin out (nostalgically) at the corner of 13th and 10th avenue, but in fact they are hangin out at the spot where 14th and 11th meets.... whoa.
mysterious. stylish. i wonder you really need that tiny lense effects in the sky. cloud is great though.

Nice, I would have pegged this for vector work. Not sure I get the numbers on the sign, doesn't really make sense to have 10/ 11 and 13/14 all on one corner. Maybe that's the point, and I am missing it. Nice sky, the texture is very cool. Personally I might have placed the girl a little behind the main dude to add a little depth. Slick style. +6

aha, didn't think anyone would notice the street sign numbers!
i just painted some numbers at random to see if it would work ok, i liked the result so i left it like that :]

i'm not sure about light at the top of the building... the building was originally blue-ish but i thought it would be nice if the orange sky and sun would reflect on it so i used dodge and burn plus some orange on a luminosity layer. maybe the effect wasn't perfectly achieved? and yep, a little more depth would be nice =/

thanks much for the comments!
